UV/Vis-Based Persulphate Activation for p-Nitrophenol Degradation

نویسندگان

چکیده

In the present work, degradation of p-nitrophenol (PNP) and its mineralization by a UV/Vis-based persulphate activation process was investigated. Firstly, screening processes as direct photolysis, alone activated radiation performed. The incidence demonstrated to have an important role in oxidant activation, allowing achieve highest PNP total organic carbon (TOC) removals. maximum oxidation (100%) (61.6%)—both after 2 h reaction time—were reached when using T = 70 °C, (S2O82?) 6.4 g/L I 500 W/m2. influence type (ultraviolet/visible, visible or simulated solar light) also evaluated, being found that source with emission ultraviolet (UV/visible) allowed best efficiency; however, very-good performance. According quenching experiments, sulphate radical is key process, but hydroxyl plays role.

Plasmid-encoded degradation of p-nitrophenol by Pseudomonas cepacia.

A Pseudomonas cepacia strain RKJ 200 capable of utilising p-nitrophenol (PNP+) as the sole source of carbon, nitrogen, and energy was isolated by selective enrichment. The degradation of PNP by this strain proceeds through an oxidative route as indicated by the accumulation of nitrite molecules in the culture medium. Initial studies indicate that the degradation of PNP occurs via hydroquinone a...

Bioelectrochemical system for recalcitrant p-nitrophenol removal.

Bioelectrochemical system (BES) for recalcitrant p-nitrophenol (PNP) removal was investigated in this study. Effective removal of PNP at rates up to 9.14 ± 0.48 mol m(-3)d(-1) was achieved at an energy consumption as low as 0.010 ± 0.002 kWh mol(-1) PNP. PNP removal rate was enhanced with negative cathode potential, increased influent PNP concentration and shortened hydraulic retention time (HR...

Enhanced microbial adaptation to p-nitrophenol using activated sludge retained in porous carrier particles and simultaneous removal of nitrite released from degradation of p-nitrophenol.

In order to examine the microbial degradation of p-nitrophenol (PNP) by a mixed culture system and simultaneous removal of nitrite released via the degradation, an activated sludge retained in porous carrier particles and a suspension culture as a control were acclimated to artificial sewage containing PNP as the sole carbon source. The adaptation of microbes retained in porous carrier particle...

Plasmid-encoded degradation of p-nitrophenol and 4-nitrocatechol by Arthrobacter protophormiae.

Arthrobacter protophormiae strain RKJ100 is capable of utilizing p-nitrophenol (PNP) as well as 4-nitrocatechol (NC) as the sole source of carbon, nitrogen and energy. The degradation of PNP and NC by this microorganism takes place through an oxidative route, as stoichiometry of nitrite molecules was observed when the strain was grown on PNP or NC as sole carbon and energy sources. The degradat...

Transcriptional activation of multiple operons involved in para-nitrophenol degradation by Pseudomonas sp. Strain WBC-3.

Pseudomonas sp. strain WBC-3 utilizes para-nitrophenol (PNP) as a sole carbon and energy source. The genes involved in PNP degradation are organized in the following three operons: pnpA, pnpB, and pnpCDEFG. How the expression of the genes is regulated is unknown. In this study, an LysR-type transcriptional regulator (LTTR) is identified to activate the expression of the genes in response to the...
